St. Anthony was a Franciscan saint who actually came from Portugal but was shipwrecked in Italy on his way to join the crusades as a teenager.
The festival of Sant‘Antonio is on the 12th and 13th of June, and kicks off the long series of festivals and events for the Penne summer. Though it has a religious core it is very much a family event.
The whole population of Penne is out on the streets on the night of the 13th. Come and join them!
